Zero: Technical Source Material for Decimal Number... →
Sometimes a book title can be a bit cryptic about what’s inside. Thankfully Amazon’s “Look inside” facility helps us out here - and what a surprise!
Really, who is this book going to be purchased by? If the answer is you, and you own a Kindle, then Amazon are waiting for you!

All Media Playback in a single box with Samsung
My XBox360 finally packed up with the red rings and I didn’t fancy going through all the instructions to pull the case apart and attempt to reset the heat sinks. The X360 was being used to stream media from my ReadyNAS NV+ storage box and play region 2 DVDs for the kids.
As a replacement I set out looking for a box to do everything the XBox 360 did and a whole lot more. My ideal criteria...

Moving social photos between services
Have I missed something out there on the Internet?
I cannot find any good reliable service which can take care of moving a large batch of photos from one service to another, whilst keeping all of a photos associated meta data (title, description, tags etc.) intact.
What if I wanted to migrate from Flickr to Picasa, or Facebook to Picasa? Or hell Picasa to Facebook? Seems like a gaping hole that...
My Dinner With Android: One month with Android →
dinnerwithandroid:
Putting aside the confusion, the cursing, the epiphanies, and the regrets, after a solid month with Android, this one thing I know to be true: attempting to compare Android to iOS is a game fools play.1
Yes, there are similarities in that you interact with both OSes in a similar fashion,…

I use only one password for all web sites →
justmybloghere:
We are supposed to change our passwords often, but not to write them down; to make them complicated and long, but never repeat them on different sites; and to use all sorts of characters, not only the letters of the alphabet. And then actually remember all those passwords. Sounds almost as hard as…

Blue Monday 2011 is here
According to an old charity press release today is the most depressing day of the year, and it’s all down to the weather. The formula used to work out this date is a little wobbly on details but looks like:
where weather=W, debt=d, time since Christmas=T, time since failing our new year’s resolutions=Q, low motivational levels=M and the feeling of a need to take action=Na....

delicious closing down - data migration
The age-old “social” bookmarking service delicious.com which was acquired by Yahoo a few years back has been listed as one of the Yahoo! services to be closed down soon.
Because it’s such an old service a LOT of people have a LOT of bookmarks saved over the years. There’s going to be some panic data migration happening as the news spreads.
I’ve spent the last couple...

Pitch-TV Nazis and their Huggle Buddies Crusade
The Christmas 2010 toy list has the Huggle Buddy down as a gift idea for the kids this season. I’ve never personally heard of them or seen any TV commercials - and I see a lot of kids TV commercials on a weekend between Scooby Doo and Garfield episodes.
The Huggle Buddies are prices at around £20 each - for what is effectively a square pillow with an animals head on and a strap to keep...

Is Android Still an Afterthought?
Last week saw the release of the Skype mobile application for the Android platform, a long time since the iPhone received the Skype application.
Statistics are being thrown about over the past few months regarding how the Android platform is outselling the iPhone & Blackberry platform around the world now.
Nielsen reports that among people who purchase smart phones over the last six months,...

Share a Taxi Service Idea
Wouldn’t it be handy to organise sharing a taxi ride with somebody else travelling to the same area? Not only would it save you some cash, it could also save wasted fuel if you’re an eco hippy.
My initial thought tonight was an iPhone app to log your current location, a destination area (no exact house number or personal details), and a time you want to travel.
Using your details it...
